Terms of Service

The rules for using MoatScope. Plain language where we can, legal specificity where we must.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of MoatScope (the “Service”), a stock research platform operated by Four Seas Labs (“we,” “us,” or “MoatScope”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What MoatScope is

MoatScope is a subscription-based stock research tool that presents analytical views of publicly traded US stocks, including proprietary moat ratings, quality scores, and fair value estimates. The Service is informational onlyand is not investment advice, a recommendation to buy or sell securities, or an offer of financial services. See our Disclaimer for the full investment disclaimer.

2. Accounts

To access most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and notify us promptly of any unauthorized use. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. One person or entity per account. Sharing accounts is not permitted.

5. Intellectual property

All MoatScope content, including but not limited to the moat rating framework, quality scoring methodology, fair value model, software, blog posts, and graphics, is owned by Four Seas Labs and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal research while your subscription is active. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

Underlying financial data is sourced from third parties including SEC EDGAR (public), Tiingo, and Finnhub. MoatScope's interpretive layer (ratings, scores, estimates) is proprietary.

6. Third-party data

MoatScope displays data from third-party providers. We make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of third-party data. We are not responsible for errors, omissions, or delays in data feeds. You should verify anything material against the original source (SEC filings, company disclosures, etc.) before making decisions.

MoatScope does not provide investment, financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice. Nothing on the Service is a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or transact in any security. You are solely responsible for your investment decisions. See the full Disclaimer.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that data will be accurate.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Four Seas Labs, its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or investment losses, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Four Seas Labs from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through the Service. Continued use after the update takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
